	Envelope: "To all our friends in America"

The 12,739 dolls sent by American children to Japan brought great joy to Japanese children. Below are a couple of the thousands of thank-you letters that came to America, all written by hand on Japanese paper, delicately decorated:

• Letter from primary school in Kagawa Prefecture 

• Thank-you letter from Nara Prefecture

• Letter from school in Shimane Prefecture - sent to Sunday School of a small rural Friends meeting near Wilmington, Ohio

Many letters were also written by Japanese children to accompany the 58 Friendship Dolls sent to America in November 1927. One sixth-grade student wrote a heartfelt letter that describes her love for Tamako, the name of the Japanese Friendship Doll sent from Saitama Prefecture.
