From a letter written with a writing brush
The two dolls both wear dark-red dresses of the same color and both have innocent-looking faces, which makes the dolls seem the same like twins.
The details are not known about why there are two dolls at Nishimae Elementary School and where they were hidden during the war. However, there are various theories about where Pauline was hidden.
Theory 1 - Perhaps she was put at the bottom of the shrine cabinet where there is a photo of the Emperor and Empress inside.
Theory 2 - Perhaps she was in the basement of the teachers' room.
Based on letter written by Hanae Kobayashi, a student at the school in 1927, Pauline was widely displayed in those days.
